Friday Fun | Edition 3

Happy Friday, friends!

If you’re new to Friday Fun, click here to read the first one before you get started! And if you’re already familiar with Friday Fun, welcome back! Here’s a recap of some of our favorite moments from the week: the small little things that may or may not matter, but nonetheless colored and flavored our week:

— Jordan, Mr. Adventurous, bought himself an early birthday present: a cordless dust buster. Amy wishes you could’ve seen the excitement on his face when it arrived the next day via Amazon Prime. He really would give Danny Tanner a run for his money.

— We’re listening to a 1990s playlist on Spotify while we’re writing this. No Doubt’s Tragic Kingdom is on and is STILL one of the all-time greats! Don’t speak! We know just what you’re saying!

— Speaking of the 90s, we did a Hocus Pocus movie night with friends this week… and then spent the rest of the night looking at each other and saying, Kiss me, I’m Allison! and Hashtag, Black-Flame-Candle!

— It’s booking season right now, which means we’re viewing and changing our 2016 calendar a lot. Amy looked at her iCal. And gasped. Because Jordan had scheduled the presidential debates. In our calendar. Not the ones happening this October. No, no. The ones happening next October! October 2016. So that we don’t accidentally schedule an engagement session during one. She’s really grown to love the planner and politics-lover in him!

— The cats are getting skinnier! After some Mom and Dad guilt from feeding them Costco-brand food their first year and food diet food their second year (which we found out STILL had grain in it!) we finally switched them to Blue Wilderness. Grrr! They’re already more fierce! It’s a non-grain, indoor weight control cat food — and it’s working! We’re feeling so proud of them and keep telling them what a great job they’re doing. Is that weird? There’s less of the kitties these days, but still just as much to love!

— Bacon. Let’s talk about bacon! Jordan’s Makin Bacon game has been on point lately. Crispy but still juicy. The best way to start the morning.

— Jordan started grinding his own coffee beans. The noise scares the cats and wakes Amy up in the morning, but it smells great, so we’re still working out a system for that.

— William Wallace has a new bedtime habit that Jordan L-O-V-E-S: curling up next to his pillow at night instead of sleeping near his feet. He’s in Cat-Dad-Heaven! And he doesn’t care who knows it!

— We got new iPhones! AFTER THREE YEARS. Yeah, we’re those people. People’s jaws drops whenever we tell them that the iPhone 5 was our first smart phone. Our first smart phone, y’all! We’ve been rockin’ the same ones since fall of 2012, but we finally had to lay them down. Amy got the 6s rose gold and Jordan got the 6s Plus in silver. We even ditched our Otterboxes for stylish cases, too! Pink and stone, respectively.

— Amy’s clean clothes have been hanging in the guest bathroom since Sunday, which is where she hangs them to air dry. Jordan insists ever day that she hang them in the closet. She just insists that she now has two closets!

— CONFESSION: We started listening to Christmas music. A little bit. Here and there. But don’t judge! It happened on accident. Spotify just keeps playing and playing and sometimes, it just hits Christmas! But like Jon Acuff says, there’s not exactly a lot of great Thanksgiving music to hold us over until December!

— We got Eggs Benedict at our favorite brunch place but couldn’t decide on which special pancake flavor to share. So our server surprised us with ALL three HUGE pancakes we were deciding between, only charged us for the one we ordered and thanked us for brightening his day! It was the highlight of our week The winner was the pineapple pineapple with the cookie crumble being a close second and sweet potato in third. It might not sound appetizing, but we’re not even really pancake people and it. was. #yum.

— For the first time ever, we’re shooting a wedding ON Halloween, which means we’ll be foregoing costumes this year! But we’ll still be in the holiday spirit on the inside!

  1. Anne Casey says:

I tried SO HARD to watch Hocus Pocus! I lasted mayyyyybe 5 minutes. I just don’t get what all the fuss is about!
Bacon- have you tried cooking it in the oven? It’s revolutionary, my friends!
    Christmas music is ALWAYS appropriate!
And congratulations on the new addition! Can you believe you’ve lived this long without a dust buster!?
    xoxo!

    • Amy & Jordan says:

That breaks our heart! Give it another try for sure! The OVEN?!?! Tell us more… And, no! We can’t! The dust buster is uh-mazing!

      • Anne Casey says:

Line a pan with foil and bake your bacon! Bake it at like 350 or 375 for 15 minutes, give or take. Cooks nice and flat and the clean up is SO easy! Hardly any babysitting and you don’t have to flip it! Everyone on Food Network bakes it on a rack in the oven so the grease can drip down into a pan but I don’t have a rack, so the foil trick works best for me. Give it a try!
