Want a simple way to increase the size of your galleries when you’re tight on time?
Whether you’re:
– Photographing mini-sessions
– On a tight wedding timeline
– Making up lost time for late clients
There are a few things we do to MAXIMIZE the number of high quality, unique shots to give our clients a gallery that wows them!
(BTW, we use and love CloudSpot to deliver beautiful galleries to our clients! If you wanna try it, you can start here for free!)
Our goal is to shoot SO efficiently and get as many unique shots as possible with our time.
Here are some of our favorite, simple ways to get a ton of variety fast:
1. Shoot in less locations
Why?
Every time we move locations, we lose minutes to walking, finding the right light, angles, backgrounds, re-posing the group… #allthethings.
Instead, when we want a ton of variety in a time crunch, we choose the BEST spot we can find and shoot the HECK out of it.
2. Shoot everything with multiple compositions
Once we’ve done the hard work of finding great light and a beautiful background and posing our clients, we shoot the exact same setup with multiple compositions, like a tight, close-up shot, a wide, pulled-back shot and shoot both horizontally and vertically to vary the look of the photos.
3. Vary the poses strategically
Our entire posing system is designed to maximize variety in a short amount of time without changing locations.
Over time, we’ve developed a flow to our posing where we can minimize lost time to transitions and build our next pose straight on top of the one before to give our clients the most variety possible.
4. Lots of “breakouts” in the same location
This is for shooting groups of any size, like a family session or a bridal party.
Again, once you’ve taken the time to walk everyone to the good light and background, keep them there as long as possible!
For a family session, we always like to start with the BIG family photo to make sure we get that, but then we like to do lots of little breakouts. Here are some based on a family with Mom, Dad, Girl, Girl.
– Mom and Dad
– Mom and Dad with each kid
– Mom with each kid
– Dad with each kid
– Mom with her girls
– Dad with his girls
– Each kid alone
– Just the two girls
There are SO many possibilities!
We hope this is an encouragement that you can knock out a TON of variety in a VERY short period of time and STILL give your client a FULL gallery that they will love!
