This weekend, we visited some of our best friends, Anna and Ryan, for a weekend getaway in St. Simons Island, Georgia — which was one of the best ways we could’ve possibly planned to start our year. We’ll be sharing more about the actual trip later, but we just couldn’t wait another second to share these photos! We simultaneously got to check two items off our photography bucket list: shooting underneath sweeping Spanish moss, and exploring the incredibly unique Driftwood Beach, and we loved every minute of it.
Because any time we have the chance to photograph a one-of-a-kind couple in a once-in-a-lifetime place, you do it
[ezcol_1half]It looks calm and peaceful and romantic in these photos, but in reality, we were FREEZING and racing against the clock! Anna is an insanely talented photographer in her own right (she’s done anniversary photos for us in Venice, Charleston and the Cotswolds) so we split the shooting time with her. Because the two spots we wanted to shoot in were pretty far away from each other, we each ended up only shooting in each spot for about fifteen minutes each! Jordan had to keep Amy on a timer so we didn’t lose the light. For a photographer in a new beautiful[/ezcol_1half][ezcol_1half_end]destination location, this is a little bit like self-inflicted torture!! The southeast was experiencing a rare winter cold front while we were on the island, so instead of the usual seventy-degree and sunny days, we shot in stiff and (at times) biting winds, which earned us a lot of strange looks from bundled up local beachgoers. But. it. was. so. worth. it. Because any time we have the chance to photograph a one-of-a-kind couple in a once-in-a-lifetime place, you do it — and, despite frozen fingers and cherry red skin by the end, we’re so glad we did.[/ezcol_1half_end]
We’ll be sharing much more of our time with these two (right here) in the next few days, including our new where-have-you-been-all-my-life?-We-can’t-believe-we-lived-this-long-without-you! addiction to the board game Settlers of Catan. For now, though, we’ll leave it here: Anna and Ryan, we spent so much time with you this weekend, but it didn’t feel like any time at all. It never feels like enough time. Because, to us, you’re so much more than a “Too much of good thing, is a good thing” quote or “Like a fine wine, it gets better with time” reference. We are so thankful for your friendship and for the way we can feel so close even when you are so far away. We love you both so much! These might just be our new two favorite fifteen-minute sets ever!
