We recently got back from the sweetest trip with our kids that was years in the making 🥹
From pushing strollers in matching tennis shoes to laughing at the ways we’ve changed as parents, this week was full of a lot of joy we’ll never forget…
Here’s a little peek at what we’ve been up to — and the moments (big and small) that meant the most 👇
1. Flying with kids… is actually fun now? ✈️
This was our first time flying with all three kids since The Family Reunion Cruise Fiasco™ (IYKYK) — and WOW what a difference a few years makes!
(If you don’t know about our Big Fat Greek Cruise Fiasco, you can catch up on all the drama by clicking here👇)
Let’s just say it took us TWENTY SEVEN hours to fly from Nashville to Florida with three tiny humans (the youngest, a nursing infant who didn’t take a bottle) and it was one of our craziest parenting adventures ever 😅
Anyway, this time, we took just the big two on this trip (Emily, 5 and Beckett, 7) while Ellie got to do a sleepover at her cousins’ house. Everyone is two years older now…
And it was a life changing experience.
Mostly because this was our first time flying with kids in over seven years where I (Amy) wasn’t pregnant or nursing or both!
No diapers! No baby carrier! And I could use both my hands!
It felt SO easy.
And the kids were actually helping with bags! (And begging to ride the airport escalators “just one more time!” over and over again for fun 😂)
So if you’re in the trenches of baby and toddler life right now, let this be encouragement to you!
There IS light at the end of the tunnel!
And if you can’t swing a trip to Orlando any time soon, just take them to the mall and let them ride the escalators for free 😉
2. Aesthetic? No. Epic? Yes 👏
The funny thing about being parents is…
One day you’re putting light, neutral-colored baby toys on your registry thinking your whole life with kids is going to be aesthetic and dreamy…
And the next thing you know, you’re PAYING to sleep in an over-stimulating, multi-colored rainbow pirate room BY CHOICE… and you’re excited about it 😂
Staying at the Legoland Pirate Island Hotel was Beckett’s dream come true — think bunk beds that looked like pirate ships, bright colored Lego wallpaper everywhere and a giant treasure map plastered on the wall.
It basically felt like his rainbow toy shelf exploded (he told us he was ready to move in forever.)
It was our first time at Legoland (for all four of us) and it was such a sweet experience.
The park wasn’t crowded at all, we breezed through the rides, laughed so much, marveled at all the Lego creations and got completely soaked (which the kids thought was the best part).
Also, yes… we are now that old couple in matching shoes.
(We swear by these Hokas though! 👟 Like walking on a cloud! ☁️)
3. That first time Disney magic (the day we thought might never come) ✨
We’d been dreaming of bringing the kids to Disney for years and originally booked a trip as a surprise for Beckett’s fifth birthday…
But the night before our flight, all three kids got pink eye 🥴
We rescheduled that trip for a year later (because our nursing infant made logistics complicated) but then THAT got derailed by a serious family health issue, so we had to cancel (again!)
We finally booked a third trip for January of this year.
We knew it was going to be even better because Em was tall enough to ride most of the rides (and she’s very much in her princess era 🥹) and we were SO excited to take them.
We were just ten days away, when Beckett had his horrific sledding accident and fractured his skull, which rocked our world and changed our perspective forever.
This week though? WE MADE IT!
Fourth time’s the charm! 🙌
We’re praising God daily for our miracle — Beckett’s full recovery — and this trip truly felt like a celebration of life.
Finally watching our kids experience the magic for the first time, especially seeing Em get to meet the princesses she loves and ride all the coasters with Becks was just surreal in the best way.
🎥 I was basically a 90s-camcorder-mom, smiling so hard and documenting everything so we never forget a moment of the joy 🥹
4. This isn’t the Disney we grew up with 😂
Things have changed a lot since we were kids, though!
Basically, we’re just proud we were able to navigate this park for the first time as parents in 2025 and lived to tell the tale 🤣
Thankfully, Jordan’s sister gave us a whole intricate schedule to follow and a run down of all the wait-time/app hacks (because wow, Disney planning is a thing now!)
We would’ve been LOST without her!
Did you know fast passes don’t exist anymore?
Neither did we.
Apparently all the cool kids know about “Lightning Lanes” though ⚡
We miraculously got to the park at 7:30am (per her instructions!) grabbed our family pics and kicked off the day with some quick wins and a classic Dumbo ride.
The kids were all in.
We made it through to the parade at 3:30 (so magical!) and couldn’t believe they’d lasted seven hours!
We hit a quick power nap and BOOM we had happy park goers until fireworks, WAY past bedtime! 💥
Jordan, who is famously Not A Theme Park Guy, was the real MVP.
He carried kids, pushed the stroller, hauled around the Costco-size Chomps beef sticks bag we brought from home and somehow still managed to catch the perfect lighting mid-flight on the magic carpets for a glowy photo moment 😂
What a keeper!
5. A business takeaway we couldn’t help but notice 🌱
☕ One morning at our Disney hotel, Jordan walked out to grab coffee and noticed something:
There were already groundskeepers up and working everywhere — pruning roses, cleaning flower beds, power washing sidewalks…
One moment really stood out.
A single employee meticulously watering a few small brown patches of grass that the sprinklers had missed BY HAND 🌷
Just walking the property with a hose — making sure every spot stayed green.
We also spotted someone walking around with a bucket of white paint, touching up tiny dings in door frames and railing trim.
That hotel was built around the time we were BORN… and yet, it looked brand new.
Why do we share this?
It was a simple, but powerful reminder for us:
👉 The best businesses — the ones that last — are the ones who keep doing the small things right even when they don’t have to.
They hand-water the brown spots.
They care about the trim.
They don’t cut corners just because no one would notice.
It reminded us that success isn’t magic.
It’s consistency.
In your business.
In your marriage.
In your parenting.
In your health.
It’s the small things. Done well. Over and over.
Thanks for sharing life with us 🫶🏻
We’re home now — tired and happy — and grateful for the memories, the miracles and the lessons learned along the way.
Cheering you on in the big things… and the small ones.
