Senior Prom

We love stories. Every couple has one. One of our favorite parts about being wedding photographers is meeting with newly engaged couples for the first time and hearing theirs. The newness of it. The freshness of it. The excitement of it. We can’t get enough of it! But, at the end, our couples always ask, “What about you?” So, we decided to share our story, too. From the high school bleachers to the end of the aisle, here’s our story from “I noticed you” to “I do.”

Part 1: Desperate Times, Desperate Measures
Part 2: You + Me = Us
Part 3: Friday Night Lights
Part 4: The Little Black Dress
Part 5: The First Kiss
Part 6: The First “I Love You”
Part 7: Senior Prom
Part 8: Graduation Night
Part 9: Saying Goodbye
Part 10: College Days
Part 11: She Said Yes!
Part 12: Our Wedding Day

Fall and winter came and went, and by springtime (and senior prom), Amy and Jordan were still together and more in love than ever. Like every cool, independent, high school man, Jordan drove with his parents to Amy’s house to meet her family and participate in an American high school rite of passage: pre-prom pictures in every place imaginable. By the front door. On the staircase. In the backyard. And, yes, in front of the pool. The only thing less awkward was the portrait a few hours later at the dance in front of a backdrop that read “A Moonlit Masquerade” and was flanked by white, Greek columns garnished with fake plants. When the torture had ended…

Amy and Jordan decided that they couldn’t wait to go to college to dinner as soon as possible. Everyone else drove to dinner that night in a limousine, but Jordan snagged the keys to his dad’s BMW and drove to the steakhouse. Like a high roller from the 80s (remember, it was actually the 2000s), Jordan pulled up to the valet and clicked both shiny white shoes onto the asphalt. He must have blinded the entire world with his ALL WHITE TUXEDO, but Amy looped her arm through his arm anyways.
They were greeted by the maitre  d’ as they walked through the front doors. Heads turned throughout the restaurant as Amy, her pretty pink princess dress, and The White Flash passed their tables. Seated by open windows, the cool spring air washed over them like happiness. Jordan watched Amy look at her menu and, again, he had that feeling, the one he had on her front porch the first time he kissed her and at his desk when he wrote the note that told her that he loved her. He thought, I’ve never loved her more.

When they finally arrived at the dance, they got lost in each other. It was the culmination of months of moments, a mountain of memories, and the feeling that it was all coming to an end. So they decided to savor it. To cherish it. To dance the night away. Luckily, they didn’t forget to stop by the photo booth and get a keepsake of one of the best nights of their lives.
