Okay, friend, so this week was… something 😂

We had major wins, real miracles, unexpected messes (looking at you, number four 🥴) and a lot of grateful laughter along the way.

From 90s nostalgia to things you should probably never Google, here’s the wild ride we’ve been on lately — and a few things we’re holding extra close 💛

Kicking things off with the most important…

1. Beckett’s Miracle ✨

Earlier this year, our world was turned upside down when our first baby, Beckett (age 7) had a serious sledding accident.

There was so much blood.

We could see his skull.

An ambulance rushed him away as we prayed through tears.

Tests showed he fractured his skull — but by the mercy of God, there was no brain damage 😭🙏

We’ve praised the Lord every single day since.

These last three months have been a hard season of healing.

Hard for Beckett, our active little boy, who couldn’t run, jump, swing, climb or bike like he loves…

And hard for us, trying to keep his little spirit safe and strong.

Today, we’re so thankful and relieved to say…

He’s fully healed! 🙌

Every single time we’ve see him run, swing on a swing or throw a ball this week, it seriously feels like witnessing a miracle in motion.

Ordinary moments don’t feel so ordinary to us anymore 💛

Thank you so much for praying for our boy. We are so grateful.

2. Jesus, Sourdough and Stars Hollow Vibes 🐰

As you can imagine, we’ve been feeling the euphoria of experiencing both literal and metaphorical spring in our lives lately.

And nothing screams “new life” more than celebrating the greatest miracle of all time: the empty tomb ✝️

Jesus is where our joy is rooted and our hope is found, so you know Easter weekend is something we look forward to all year.

This one felt extra sweet 💛

We celebrated at our local church (where Ellie was crawling on all fours pretending to be Jesus’s donkey when we picked her up from the nursery 😂)

And then we had some of our best friends over for lunch — the spread we LIVE for: deviled eggs, ham, twice-baked potatoes, homemade sourdough and made-from-scratch key lime pie 😍

Our Easter day highlight?

Our neighbor down the road hosted all of us for an afternoon Easter egg hunt… and brought REAL BABY BUNNIES from a local farm for the kids to snuggle! 🐇

Like WHAT?! Is this actual Stars Hollow?!

It was every bit as magical (and sweet) as it sounds.

Pretty sure we’ll be talking about the “bunny Easter” for years to come 🐇

(And speaking of Stars Hollow…)

3. New Binge TV: My DREAM Combo 📺 🤩

If you know me, you know two of my forever loves are Gilmore Girls and dance (I basically lived in a dance studio growing up 🩰)

Gilmore Girls has been our ultimate “comfort show” — Jordan and I have watched it all the way through dozens of times (and yes, we still own the full boxed DVD set… and no, we will never part with it 😂)

Everyone’s always debating: Team Dean or Team Jess?

And we’re over here like: Um, Team EMILY.

More Friday night dinner scenes, please! 👏

So when we heard the creator of Gilmore Girls dropped a new show combining her signature witty writing and ballet (where the dancers ACTUALLY dance!) — I almost lost my ever-loving mind 🤣

Étoile just premiered on Amazon Prime last night, so we haven’t had a chance to start it yet (because, #parentlife)…

But it’s next up in our queue! 🎬

4. The Grossest Thing You’ve Ever Heard 🤢

Keeping it real over here: one of the kids got pinworms this week. 😳

It was… a whole thing.

If you’re lucky enough not to know what pinworms are, we highly recommend keeping it that way 🥴

(Do. Not. Google. It. Unless you have a very strong stomach. You’ve been warned 😅)

This was a brand new — and very gross — experience in the adventure we call parenting.

We’re pretty sure we’ll have the heebie jeebies until the end of time.

On the bright side, if you ever need it, PinRid worked like a charm — and we’re so grateful that medicine like this even exists.

(Which leads perfectly to number five… 🙌)

Now that we’re (mostly) out of the woods, we can laugh about it… kind of 🙃

5. 90s Kid Lessons 🐍

As part of homeschooling, we’ve been studying the Oregon Trail with Beckett.

(If you’re a historical fiction lover like us, he’s been reading Ranger in Time: Danger on the Oregon Trail — a whole series about a time-traveling rescue dog — and it’s been such a fun way to bring history to life.) 📚🐾

And if you’re a fellow 90s kid, your heart probably skipped a beat at the words “Oregon Trail.”

If you’re anything like us, you can still picture yourself in the school computer lab, huddled around those giant square monitors, making life-or-death decisions with the click of a mouse 😂

Maybe you still remember the thrill of shooting 789 pounds of buffalo…

Only to realize your wagon could only carry 300 pounds 😅

And then casually dying of dysentery or a snake bite before recess 💀

Anyways, Oregon Trail life has been giving us some major perspective lately.

Every time something hard happens — like, say, PINWORMS 🤢 — we catch ourselves saying…

“Well, at least we’re not dealing with this on the Oregon Trail with no anti-parasitics and a broken wagon wheel.” 💁‍♀️

Even in the messy moments, that perspective been helping us stay grateful.

Because honestly… how much harder would everything be without hot showers and washing machines? 🙃

Finding little moments of gratitude in the middle of the chaos has made all the difference.

Perspective really does change everything.
