This month as our own kids turn one and three, we’ve found ourselves reflecting on the concept of time more than ever before. We’ve been painfully aware of how fast time is going lately and are trying to do our best to cherish each minute we have with them, even the minutes that feel exhausting. A wise friend once told us that childhood isn’t actually eighteen years, it’s really more like ten, which means Beckett is already almost a third of the way through his childhood already, and that though just wrecks us! We wish time would just SLOW DOWN. Anyone else feel that?
But, another wise friend also told us that one of the greatest gifts available to our generation as parents is the ability to so easily freeze time. Chantal and Mohamed are in a similar season with their sweet, sweet girls. Sometimes it feels like the minutes and days last FOREVER (if you’re a parent, this is so real) but the weeks and months are FLYING by. We were so excited when Chantal reached out about escaping the frozen temperatures of Chicago to experience the warm desert sun, so we could freeze time for them and their precious family.
Chantal is one of our Shooting and Editing Course students from Chicago. She loved photography, and it was something special she did with her sister, but when she tragically lost her sister, she told us she was devastated and didn’t want to pursue photography professionally anymore because that was a special passion they shared together. She said it wasn’t until she saw our free class that something sparked inside of her, and she decided to pick up her camera again. Her heart wasn’t in it right away, but soon, she rediscovered JOY. She enrolled in the full course, and went from relying on filters to creating images she’s PROUD of in-camera and has a renewed passion for capturing love and joy for other people.
When she sent us a sampling of her “before” and “after” photos, we huddled around our computer and gawked at them together! Her transformation is seriously incredible and the heart behind what she does just makes her work even more special.
After taking time off to have her sweet girls back to back (Gabbi is 1.5 and Sophie is 6 months!) she’s reopened her calendar and booked more in a few days than she had in years! Chantal we are SO proud of you!! Getting to spend time with you, Mohamed and your precious girls was such a gift! Nothing makes us more happier to see not only businesses flourishing, but also families flourishing, and we felt every bit of that while we captured this season for you guys. Thank you for allowing us the honor of freezing time for you! We hope you love your images as much as we do!
