We’re so excited to share today’s destination desert anniversary session with you! Meagan and Kevin are from Cincinnati, Ohio, but recently visited our desert home of Arizona to celebrate their wedding anniversary (and a few days away from kids!) by playing golf, lounging by the pool and meeting up with us for a desert anniversary session. Meagan is a mom of four little ones –– bless her heart! –– and a student in two of our online photography courses: the Shooting & Editing Course and the Posing Course. We’re always in awe of our students who are in our online courses, improving as photographers, growing photography businesses (and killing it!) in the midst of the busiest and most demanding parenting season of their lives. It’s so inspiring and encouraging!
Since Meagan and Kevin are from Ohio and, to quote them, “It’s green everywhere!” we planned to take them to the desert for their session. We know that’s not a surprise for anyone who’s been with us for any length of time. Haha! But, the truth is, we’re so proud of where we live. We love our desert home. The ecosystem and landscape. The mountains. The light. It’s so unique. No matter how many times we take out-of-state clients on sessions, it never gets old watching them experience the beauty of the desert –– and it never gets old photographing in it. Something else that never gets old is the chance to connect with our clients on a personal level. Ever since our son Beckett was born, we’ve been able to connect with our clients (who are also parents) on a different level that we just couldn’t relate to before. That’s been really fun!
Something we don’t always talk about (here) that we’ll try to a little more, and especially when our clients are photographers themselves and students of ours, is what was happening behind the scenes at the session that posed and presented a challenge, and how we overcame it and used it as an advantage. In this case, as Meagan and Kevin would tell you, it was pretty windy off and on for most of our time together. So we had to use all of the tricks from our blog post called How to Rock a Windy Session in order to turn the weather from a negative into a HUGE positive –– which it was! If you’re a photographer, definitely read that post and then see if you can go back and identify the five tips we suggest. We bet you’ll be able to spot them!
Meagan and Kevin, you guys are awesome! Happy anniversary! Thank you for coming all the way from the Buckeye State to celebrate your anniversary (partly) with us. We’re so honored! We know that you didn’t have a big wedding with lots of photos when you got marries, so we hope these photos from your desert anniversary session will grace the walls of your home and be a constant reminder of your love for each other, of the sacred commitment you made four years ago, and of the daily decision you (and all married couples make) to live those vows for each other. God bless you both!
