We’d been looking forward to this weekend’s McCormick Home Ranch wedding for as long as we can remember; and, for so many reasons, we know it’s one that we’ll never forget. Rachel is the daughter half of a dynamic Gilmore Girls-esque mother-daughter wedding photography team from Monterey, California. She and her mom, Laura, attended one of our first photography workshops two years ago in our hometown of Scottsdale, Arizona, and now they’re running a successful business themselves. They’ve worked so hard, earned every inch of their success and done it all with that genetically infectious signature smile. For that reason (and so many more) we’re proud of them.
And grateful, too, because they gave us a special once-in-career moment last winter when we saw them at a leadership conference we were speaking at in Charleston, South Carolina. We walked outside the old brick building onto the cobblestone sidewalk, where Rachel and Paul were waiting with a hand-crafted wooden box (gifts inside) and a question: Will you be our photographers? WILL YOU BE OUR PHOTOGRAPHERS? You guys, they proposed… to us. We can’t even begin to describe how spoiled and honored we felt in that moment, and continue to feel, every time we think about it.
the only thing better than bringing experiences into a marriage is experiencing them for the first time… together.
Rachel and Paul, you might be younger than most couples who get married these days –– we were young, too –– but that doesn’t make you ill-equipped for the road ahead. It just means you’ll get what most people don’t: a chance to look at a blank canvas and chart your own course, carve your own path. Because the only thing better than bringing experiences into a marriage is experiencing them for the first time… together. We love you both to the moon and back. From the bottom of our heart, thank you for trusting us with documenting one of the most important days of your life. It was an honor and a privilege. We wish you nothing but the best that marriage has to offer. Keep God first this day and every day, and He’ll take your dreams for your relationship… and beat your wildest expectations.
