A navy wedding dress. A navy wedding dress. A NAVY WEDDING DRESS! She wore a navy wedding dress! And it was sensational. Spectacular. Sensationally spectacular, if there is such a thing. Understated elegance at its best. At its finest. A bold choice and brave stroke on one hand, and the payoff that only comes with such a gamble on the other. Because it was more than a surprise to everyone from the bridesmaids to the guests. It was a fashion grand slam. A Halloween trick that was such a treat for us to photograph! For our first October 31 wedding, we couldn’t have asked for more, from the dress, design, and decor, but more importantly, the couple who chose it, because our favorite thing about Stacy and David isn’t that they’ve got exquisite taste. It’s that they’ve got exceptional character.
She’s sweet and quiet. He’s loud and loves to make her (and everyone else) laugh. But, soft our loud, they both communicate the same message loud and clear: people matter. Everyone matters. If it’s true that how people love you is just a reflection of how you’ve loved them, then this wedding wasn’t a reflecting pond or pool. It was a sea or ocean. Because the running theme among the family and friends, whispered quietly and toasted openly, was the same: there’s nothing Stacy and David wouldn’t do for you. That was our experience, too. Stacy and David, you are some of the coolest, kindest, most appreciative people we know. You treat everyone around you like they’re special. Like they matter. And that matters. A lot. Thank you for being calm and trusting every step of the way and making us feel like more than photographers. But instead like friends. Like part of the family. We love you both and are so excited for you to see everything we saw every time we clicked the shutter this weekend: two people madly in love with each other, who love to love others, and who others love, too.
