Happy Friday, friends!
Wikipedia defines an “addiction” as “the continued repetition of a behavior despite adverse consequences.” Today, we thought we’d come clean about a few of our current frivolous addictions we can’t seem to stop, regardless of the consequences they’re having on our life.
Addiction #1: The Nashville Soundtrack
One of our favorite ways to unwind at the end of a long day or week is with some good TV shows — and we’ve been HOOKED on Nashville this season. Amy’s on Team Deacon, Jordan’s on Team Luke, we both feel bad for Teddy (he’s caught in a serious love triangle), we wish Scarlett and Gunner would get back together already and start writing love songs again, and we’re surprised at how much we like Avery (and how much we’re rooting for a Juliette comeback). We visited the actual city of Nashville a few weeks ago and all we wanted to do was hang out at The Bluebird Cafe and hear Juliette sing “Don’t Put Dirt on My Grave Just Yet” at the Grand Old Opry. All that to say, we’ve compiled a pretty impressive Spotify playlist of all the newest Nashville songs, and when we’re not listening to the Frozen soundtrack (Let it go… let it gooooo!!), we’re rockin’ out to Scarlett O’Connor, Rayna James, and Juliette Barnes on repeat.
Adverse Consequence #1: Jordan’s Singing
He sings the wrong lyrics to the wrong songs to the wrong melodies and believes it’s right! But it’s just wrong. Mostly because he couldn’t carry a tune to save his life.
Addiction #2: Cuddling With Our Kittens
William Wallace and Mr. Carson are coming up on their first birthday on June 22, so they’re technically still kittens, but only for another month (which makes us very sad). What makes us happy? Everything else. They’re the sweetest snugglers in the world. When we first brought them home as little bitties, Jordan was convinced that if we just tried hard enough, we could get them to act like dogs. And, sure enough, it worked! Whenever we walk in the door, they both run to greet us. William even ROLLS OVER on his back (and spends most of his day like that) because he l-o-v-e-s belly rubs. We finally had to spring for low-fat cat food, though, because William’s getting a bit hefty, but, if we’re being honest, we kinda like it. It’s like Amy says, “There’s just more to love!” They’re amazing cuddlers at night, too. All we have to say is, “William, it’s bedtime!” and he comes sprinting into our room. We have tile, though, and it’s hard for him to get traction. So, he looks like a cartoon character whose feet are moving and kicking up dust for a few seconds before he actually gets going. Jordan never. ever. in a million years. thought he’d like cats, but these two rascals have won his heart.
Adverse Consequence #2: Lost Productivity
For as sweet as their little squeaks and meows are, sometimes they come at the wrong time, like at sunrise when we’e trying to sleep, or in the afternoon when we’re trying to work. But, without fail, we always succumb to their cuteness and pet the heck out of them. We confess, Internet, we’ve become cat ladies.
Addiction #3: Ice Cream Sundaes
It’s no secret that we have a serious ice cream addiction. This knowledge has become so widespread, that we actually have people text us when they see that Blue Bell ice cream is on sale! (And we’re always thankful for the tip!) But lately, this addiction has been kicked up to a new level of awesome. One of our amazingly thoughtful brides sent us an entire ice cream sundae kit (more on that in a future post!) complete with an ice cream scooper, waffle cones, salted caramel sauce and more toppings than a fro-yo shop. And. we. are. addicted. Like really addicted. Did we mention the SALTED CARAMEL SAUCE?! This stuff is so addictive we’re starting to suspect there might be crack hidden in it.
Adverse Consequence #3: 600 Pound Wedding Photographers
If we keep this up much longer, we might have a hard time fitting through doorways on a wedding day. We know we shouldn’t make this such a regular habit, and we know it isn’t healthy, but for as disciplined as we can be in our business, we lack all self control when it comes to sweet teeth.
Now that we’ve confessed three of our latest addictions, and it’s all out in the open, it has us thinking that we’re pretty thankful for each other. We each have a built-in-partner-in-crime, and if that’s not something to celebrate, we don’t know what is! Happy Friday!
