Jordan,
Watching you delight in our son has already become one of life’s sweetest gifts. I always knew you would be a great dad, but seeing it play out is even better than I imagined.
I love that you race me to his bassinet to be the first one to wake him up from his nap.
I love that you sing him a Beatles song (She loves you, yeah yeah yeah 🎶) every time you put him in his car seat… to distract him from the fact… that he HATES being in his car seat.
I love the way you prop him on your lap, look him in the eye, ask him questions and wait patiently for his response. Your daily “conversations” with him are my favorite.
I love that you spend any free minute you have trying to make him laugh. I’ll never forget the first time we heard that sound, and how you’ve made it your personal mission to make sure this house is filled with his laughter ever since. I think I could listen to you sing “Under the Sea” in your Sebastian voice to him forever.
I love that you kiss all over his face and that he’s already used to the way your scruff feels on his cheeks.
I love the way he fits in your hands. Even though he won’t always fit there, it reminds me that he’ll get to grow up feeling safe and secure in the strength, consistency, intentionality, love and leadership of his father.
He just doesn’t know yet how lucky he is that he’ll get to spend his whole life pointing to his dad and saying, “ I want to be just like him.”
Happy Father’s Day to the man who makes me so excited to raise one. I love you so much.
