Happy (Late) Tuesday, friends! Okay, let’s just call it Wednesday. We’ve been traveling for almost 24 hours straight, to get from the west coast to the east coast, so it’s kind of like Tuesday just didn’t even exist for us! We’re writing to you from the car and thought we’d catch you up on the last 24 hours!
We wrapped up an epic engagement session outside Los Angeles last night in the cliffs overlooking Redondo Beach that we can’t wait to share with you later this week! Here’s a link to a behind-the-scenes sneak peek! Right after the session, we made a quick pit stop at In-N-Out for dinner and got a BIG coffee before driving through the night back to Phoenix (a six hour drive!) Amy sat in the passenger seat and edited while Jordan drove and we both listened to business books on CD. This summer we’ll share some of our most recent favorites and what HUGE lessons we’re learning from these incredible thinkers and authors. We also jammed out to XM Satellite Radio, because we got a free three-month subscription when we bought our car thinking, We’ll never get hooked! They’re gonna lose money on us! Wrong. Our trial ends soon and we’re not sure how we’re going to part with the pop station for millennials and Y2Country. It reminds us so much of childhood and with all these road trips in radio dead zones, we’re so hooked.
Anyways, we arrived home around 3AM, snuggled Mr. Carson and William Wallace for a few minutes (they’re always SO sweet and cuddly when we’ve been gone a few days!), threw in a load of laundry, re-packed our bags, and went to sleep as the sun was coming up. And went to sleep as the sun was coming up. It reminded us of that scene from Hocus Pocus when the Sanderson Sisters are inside their house, see the sunrise, and think they’re dying. That’s a little bit how we felt, too. We thought we could beat the sunrise to bed! Do you just LOVE that movie, by the way? If you don’t know what we’re talking about, stop everything you’re doing and go rent it! It’s a Halloween tradition in our house! Kiss me, I’m Allison! Haha! Anyone? Anyone?
Well, we got a few hours of sleep before heading to the airport and jumping on a plane to Boston for a few days off the coast of Massachusetts on a small island next to Martha’s Vineyard called Nantucket to spend time with some of our dearest friends and celebrate our friend Mary’s day of birth! The trip couldn’t have come at a more perfect time because we feel like we’ve been going a mile-a-minute for as long as we can remember, and some sailing, walks on the beach, picnics of cheese and wine, and fun adventures (that hopefully include late-night board games) Expect to see navy and white stripes and big floppy hats on the blog very soon! For real time updates, come hang out with us on Instagram at @amy_demos and @jordan_demos!
Now, before we let you go, we also wanted to announce something that we’re REALLY excited to share with you! We’ve been invited to speak at the Connect 2016 Marriage Retreat at Chick-fil-A’s Winshape Retreat outside Atlanta, Georgia next spring! We just absolutely love the heart behind this conference. It’s a retreat designed to strengthen, empower and encourage married couples who run businesses together – just like us! In almost six years of marriage and over ten together, we’ve realized that a huge part of our everyday happiness comes from INVESTING in our marriage in little ways a lot of the time (like date nights) and in big ways some of the time, and that’s why we’re more in love now than we’ve ever been. And the Connect Marriage Retreat, where this photo was taken, was a huge rocket boost in that equation. We went as attendees in 2014 and it was one of the BEST investments we’ve ever made in our marriage, and we can’t wait to be back, this time as teachers! Early bird registration opens THIS Thursday and if you register by May 31 you save $400 off your seat PLUS an additional $500 in bonuses! That’s a $900 total value when you register before the end of this month, so don’t wait in case all the seats sell out before then!
If you want an inside peek at what it’s like to attend Connect, here’s our post about our experience as attendees!
