We’d been looking forward to this wedding for months. We counted down the weeks. We checked off each day in our minds one at a time. We never lost sight of November 8, 2014 on our calendar, because it belonged to two of the sweetest souls we’ve ever had the pleasure and privilege of photographing. They’re some of the kindest people we’ve ever met, with truly genuine hearts for others and each other. Maybe that’s the benefit of perspective, getting married a few years later in life than everyone else. Maybe it’s just who they are. We have a sneaking suspicion it’s both. But from the first words they penned us this summer until the ones we’re writing now, from start to finish, every step of the way, Cara and Kevin smiled, laughed, and never took their eye off of what was most important. Their wedding was classic in every positive sense of the word. Coco Channel would’ve loved it, as she said, “Simplicity is the cornerstone of true elegance.” That’s exactly what it was.
Cara and Kevin, thank you so much for welcoming us into your life. Thank you for exploring multiple properties with us to get the best photos in what Amy nicknamed “magic light” on the spot. Thank you for offering us the most delicious fried goat cheese balls and other horderves during your sunset portraits and insisting we eat with you. We go through goat cheese by the case at our house, so it was like food and photography fantasies collided for a brief moment! We’re still not even sure if what happened was real. It was THAT good. Thank you, also, for surprising Kevin with a Rolls Royce to drive from the chapel to the reception. We can now check that off our bucket list! And, thank you, from the bottom of our heart, for just being you, two people who care more about others than themselves and demonstrate living by The Golden Rule in real, tangible ways. We love you both and will forever think of you when our calendar reads November 8, 2014, because it was a date we looked forward to for so long, because we knew we’d get to spend it with you.
