She made him sign a contract… when he was six.
Adam’s mom, Sherry, told her six-year-old son that he couldn’t get married unless she approved of the bride. He agreed, of course, and signed in his best first grade printing. Sherry kept that piece of paper for twenty-five years. On the wedding night, Adam’s dad surprised Adam and Krysta with that framed contract for everyone to see. Sherry, however, had an extra special seat.
This summer, Sherry lost her courageous battle with cancer. Krysta was there to support Adam every step of the way before, and after, his beloved mother’s death. She quickly became a part of the family, and Sherry gave her blessing on their marriage before she passed. Adam would be able to honor their contract after all.
Weddings are about stories. Adam and Krysta’s started at Country Thunder and continued with a storm neither of them could have predicted. On the wedding night, though, the beautiful pieces of a beautiful family on a beautiful occasion came together. Adam’s smile was bigger and happier than ever as Krysta’s dad walked her down the aisle. The room was filled with pure joy.
That night, as Adam’s dad presented that now-famous framed contract during his toast, he reminded everyone that Sherry couldn’t have been happier knowing that Krysta was the one. There wasn’t a dry eye in the place, because everyone got the distinct sense that there wasn’t a dry eye in heaven, either.
Krysta and her girls started the day at Dre Salon. Adam’s sister, Morgan, was right by her side all day.
Before Adam’s mom passed away, she gave him one of her most treasured possessions, her bible. Adam and Krysta honored Sherry’s memory by using her bible to carry their rings down the aisle.
Adam looked so handsome as he proudly donned a ribbon for his mom and prepared for his bride.
Krysta was glowing. Girl, you are radiant.
We loved hanging with these guys. They had us laughing from the second we started. It made holding the camera still an extra challenge, but a lot more fun, too.
The girls were so sweet, and are their shoes killer, or what? We loved the pops of red Adam and Krysta brought to their day.
Adam’s face as Krysta walked down the aisle says it all.
The day had been filled with unpredictable rain, and we were so thankful the weather held out long enough for us to sneak away with Adam and Krysta to grab a few shots of them as husband and wife.
Krysta braved some treacherous terrain, in her hot red heels, none the less, so that we could get this next set of shots. We’re so thankful to have clients who trust us when we propose mini-adventures.
Adam and Krysta entered the reception, and the place erupted. They set the tone right from the start. This was going to be a p-a-r-t-y.
The best man and matrons of honor kicked things off with toasts of memories filled with joy, laughter and tears.
Adam’s dad’s toast touched the hearts of every person in the room as he presented that famous contract. It touched nobody more deeply than Krysta.
Adam shared an emotional first dance with his sister, as they honored their mother’s memory.
The rest of the night was nothing but a huge celebration. Exactly how Sherry would have wanted it.
It was so sweet to see Krysta’s parents. It was clear they were best friends and had so much fun together. They kept the dance floor hot all night.
And, as you can see, Krysta and Adam will have no problem carrying on that family legacy. The perfect way to end the day.
