Oh man! These photos are SO special to us!
If you’ve been around here a while, you know this is NOT the first time we’ve photographed Anna and Ryan. They’re some of our best friends on the planet, so even though they live on the other side of the country, we always seem to find a way to get together in person more than you might think possible! Whether we’re meeting in one of our hometowns or picking a new city (or country!) we love adventuring through life with these two. We’ve taken their photos in the Cotswolds, St. Simon’s Island, Washington D.C., Venice and right in our hometown of Scottsdale, but THESE might be the most special, surreal ones of all because it was the first time we got to shoot them as a FAMILY OF THREE!!
Their sweet baby boy Peter Gray Akins was born only a month after Beckett, and having our babies so close together has been one of the greatest gifts. Anna and Amy got to experience every step of pregnancy together (you can head to this post and swipe through to see what we mean!) and we can’t even count how many times during our pregnancy we would take a picture together, look at each other and say: “Can you believe one day we’ll be HOLDING OUR BABIES?!”
Well, THIS WAS IT!!
We planned a vacation to Napa and knew we couldn’t end the trip without sneaking in a few family photos! We switched off shooting and were fully expecting both babies to completely lose it, so we both moved very fast, but they both did SO much better than we thought! Especially considering it was well past their bedtime! (Turns out the sun is out pretty late in Napa in the summer!) Gray was almost three months old, so we also didn’t expect to get ANY smiles, but we GOT ONE! And neither baby cried! We consider that A VACATION MIRACLE!!
Even though we didn’t shoot very long, we just HAD to share a few of our favorites with you! Getting to see Anna and Ryan as parents and how much love they have for their precious little guy makes capturing this season in their lives so special for us. Anna, Ryan and Gray Bear, we love you so much!! Here’s to many years of family photos to come!!
