Over the past few years, we pressed pause on in-person coaching sessions and small group workshops to focus on building online courses for photographers. The blessing has been that we’ve been able to reach and help thousands of photographers learn how to use their camera, take images they’re proud of and, if they’ve wanted to, build successful businesses that are (of course) profitable, but also (and equally importantly) love and serve people well at the same time. The only downside of teaching photographers online is that we don’t get to do something we really love: see our students in person. We really miss it.
That’s what makes sessions (like this one) so special. Luisa and Douglas are in two of our online courses: the Shooting & Editing Course and the Business Course. They contacted us a year ago to schedule an anniversary session in Arizona to coincide with their three year wedding anniversary. We jumped at the chance. Sessions for our students have become one of our new favorite things! Especially students like Luisa and Douglas. These two couldn’t have been kinder, sweeter or more joyful. We often wonder what we did as teachers to get such incredible students who are so beautiful inside and out. We know it’s not us, so we chalk it up to another blessing from above.
Luisa and Douglas, it’s funny, because even though we’d never met in person, we felt like we knew you. We love your love story. You weren’t supposed to be in the same city on the same night. You never should’ve met. Yet, everything about your relationship is so right, that it obviously wasn’t coincidence or happenstance or something serendipitous that brought you together; but rather part of Someone’s master plan. We loved hearing about your travel adventures. It reminded us how blessed we were to get to travel before kids, too. And, to be totally honest, we’re almost speechless, at how honored we feel, that you would choose to come all the way here, to spend time with us, to celebrate three years of marriage together. We’re truly humbled.
From the moment we snapped the first frame, we knew we were going to love these images. We hope you love them as much as we do. Thank you for making a sunrise session so much fun. It almost turned us into morning people. Almost. The desert also thanks you. Because there’s a chance it’s never looked this good; and the desert doesn’t change, so it can’t be the desert! It must be the people in it.
