This summer, we experienced one of the most surreal moments of our entire life. In the midst of the french lavender fields, in the presence of God and of two of our best friends, we renewed our vows. The same vows we pledged to each other just seven years before, in front of our family and friends. But as we recited these vows again, they held an entirely different meaning than they did seven years prior. They represented promises lived out in every day life, through the big moments and the little moments. Through the best days of our life, and the worst. We were so honored to see these photos featured on Inspired By This this week as they brought back every emotion of our vow renewal.
As photographers, we have the honor most weekends, to capture the vows between a new husband and wife. Most of the time, the bride and groom are surrounded by a preacher, their closest friends, their family, and their photographer. For our vow renewal, we had all of those things, even thought there were only two people with us. Katelyn James, one of the most talented photographers in the country, was behind the lens as we said said our vows, and her husband Michael, former youth pastor, officiated. But these two are so much more than just a photographer and a preacher. They’re some of our closest friends who have quickly become family. Their love for people is abounding and we can’t thank them enough for loving us so well, and for meeting us in France to share such a special moment. We will treasure these photos for ever. And ever. Almost as much as we’ll treasure the two of them.
There are two other people this day wouldn’t have been with out. Katherine Bignon designed the dress of Amy’s dreams, closely reflecting the wedding dresses worn by our mothers and grandmothers. It was the legacy of love and marriage, manifested in a gown. And to Laetitia, our french florist, we are so glad Instagram led us to you! Thank you for creating the most stunning bouquet, and for leading us to the perfect lavender fields!
