It was like a the 1920s roared back… with a modern twist. He wore a tuxedo. Shining black shoes. Tailored black pants. A neatly tied bow tie. And a smart white dinner jacket. She wore an A-line dress with a sweetheart neckline. It was white, overlaid with sparkling blue beads, layered and laced with hints of blue tulle. An updated take on a classic look. True to tradition, she waited for her mom to arrive to her bridal suite for one last fluff of the dress, one final tug of the veil, before she’d see her almost-husband for the first time. In a similar suite not too far away, fine scotch was poured. Cheers was said. Heavy-bottomed drinking glasses clinked. His best friends toasted his final minutes as a bachelor… and his future wife. The walk to the large wooden double doors was short, and yet, very long. With each step, his heart beat a little faster. With each step, her tears came closer.
He stood with his back to her. She waited at the end of a long path for him. In just minutes, mere moments, he’d see her for the first time. And she’d see him. That’s when it happened. Something beautiful that we’ve never seen before, and might not see again. Before she took her first step. Before he could even turn around. Before they’d seen each other at all. Tears started streaming down her cheeks. And he cried, too. Because even though their bodies were separated by real time and space, their hearts were so clearly aligned, and, seconds later, when they did finally see each other for the very first time, it was a confirmation for their heads what their hearts were already feeling: forever, right in front of them.
