Last week, we had the privilege of flying from Phoenix to Denver on behalf of Showit, the awesome website design software that we used to build our website for brides and for photographers, to launch the local Denver community group for fellow Showit users (called Showiteers) and talk with Mile High City photographers about the five practical steps we took for going from zero national publications in 2012 to fifteen national features in 2013. In addition to producing cutting-edge software that allows photographers to build their own custom websites without coding, Showit has always been committed to building and sustaining a positive and encouraging in-person and online community of its thousands of users to support each other as friends and colleagues, with everything from questions about photography and business to life in general. So, needless to say, we’re very proud to be Showiteers!
In the next few months, we’ll be traveling to cities across America to help re-launch Showit’s local community groups and provide a free class on how to prepare, shoot, and submit for publication, something that changed our business and we hope will help others, too. Denver was our first stop of many this year (our hometown of Phoenix on July 9 is our next stop), and we already feel so inspired by the amazing photographers we’ve met, and encouraged by the impact we’ve been able to have on their businesses.
What one of our fellow photographers wrote after she heard our presentation and implemented it at her wedding the next night really touched us and reminded us why we love teaching and investing in photographers so much.
I’m ready to take the wedding by storm tonight for submission! So much awesome advice in your talk last night! I totally feel like I crushed it. I’ve been struggling this year with wanting to go into a wedding feeling more prepared and like I’m shooting with a purpose. I am in love with tonight’s wedding photos and feel like it’s one of my best yet, because I spent some time before the wedding really curating my own vision of what it should look like!
Wow! We LOVE helping other photographers grow and get excited about their business, and we can’t wait to meet more Showiteers from all over the country this year!
On the personal side, one of our goal’s when traveling anywhere is to find a little time for exploring the city we’re in and/or connecting with people we love. So, our first night in town, we stayed with one of our best friends from high school and the best man at our wedding, Scott, and his girlfriend, Adrienne. After a long first day of traveling and working from the road, sitting on Scott’s backyard deck with cold drinks in our hands and the cool Colorado sun setting behind the Rocky Mountains, barbecuing, laughing and catching up on life was the perfect way to celebrate all the exciting things that’ve happened over our 14 years of friendship… and everything that’s to come.
We l-o-v-e traveling! Wanna catch up with our adventures around the world? You can do that here!
