Remember when an unexpected crisis shook our household last week?

That fateful day we discovered that Costco stopped carrying our beloved Kirkland Greek yogurt? 😳

The one we’ve eaten for lunch every. single. day. FOR YEARS?

Well, it turns out… it was a FLASE ALARM (!!)

Seriously.

What we thought was a permanent hole in our hearts… was just… a temporary outage 🙃

We’ll never be able to describe the elation when Jordan turned the corner of the Costco dairy aisle to lay eyes on an entire freezer FULL of those beautiful white tubs.

Our ride-or-die yogurt is officially back (!)

The nightmare is OVER 😭

Nature is healing.

But believe it or not…

Something else happened in our life that was even MORE significant than Costco restocking our yogurt.

(I know, how could that possibly be, right?)

Well…

In the very first hour of our 16th wedding anniversary, we got a 1am phone call.

Jordan’s sister, Caelen, was in labor — and I (Amy) jumped in the car, bleary-eyed, camera in hand, and prayed the whole way there as I drove down empty roads in the middle of the night.

I made it before the midwife arrived and had the honor of photographing every sacred moment.

This was Caelen’s first home birth, something her doctor once told would never be possible after her first birth ended in a traumatic emergency C-section.

But she kept praying, researching, following her God-given intuition and found incredible care providers who had an entirely different perspective.

Her second birth was a beautifully redemptive VBAC, and such a good reminder that just because someone says you can’t, doesn’t make it true.

So here she was, about to meet her third baby, at home, and I was beyond honored to capture it for her.

As a homebirth mom myself, I’ve experienced the indescribable intensity of what it feels like on the inside, but it was so incredible for me to get to experience the beauty of it all from the outside.

The veil between heaven and earth is so thin the day a baby is born.

Caelen’s grace and strength had me in awe (and had me in tears.)

I’ve never photographed a birth before, so getting to capture these precious moments when she first met her baby — those first breaths, first cries, first looks — was such a gift, and a memory I’ll cherish for the rest of my life.

Caelen, you were AMAZING.

And Adeline? You’re officially the best. anniversary. gift. ever.

Speaking of our anniversary…

We’re celebrating SIXTEEN years of marriage!

It still feels like yesterday we were teenagers passing notes in calculus class and dancing the night away at senior prom together.

So much has changed… and somehow, so much hasn’t.

Jordan still makes me laugh harder than anyone.

(And I still think he’s the most handsome guy in the room.)

Sixteen years and it just keeps getting sweeter 🫶

My parents were in town and offered to babysit, so you can bet we didn’t blink twice before saying YES!

Having a regular, weekly date night has been one of the BEST things for our marriage
and we’re so grateful for that uninterrupted time together.

Jordan applied our babysitter savings toward DOUBLE anniversary dessert.

Can you guess which one of us is the saver and spender? 🙃

Amy’s parents babysat AGAIN the next night…

(This 🏆 is for you, Grandma and Grandpa!)

So we went on a T.J. Maxx date and splurged on some gold frames from the clearance section.

HOW PRETTY ARE THESE… FOR FIVE BUCKS?! 🤯

Affordably priced homewares is our mutual love language 🤣

And while we’re on the topic of dessert and affordable ways to make a big impact…

Jordan attempted a homemade 4th of July cake completely from scratch with the girls for the first time! 🍰

They loved scooping in the sugar (and licking the bowl) and we loved getting to start a new tradition with them.

Jordan put me in charge of… decorating 🤣

Not baking.

We didn’t need a fire 🔥

(We’ve had enough of those)

When we snapped this pic, I thought it was finished…

But Jordan, being the king-of-optimization that he is, made a makeshift piping bag out of a sandwich baggie and piped the cake.

I have to admit, his piping took it to the next level 👌

Here’s the recipe in case you wanna try it next year! (Scroll all the way down to the bottom to see the one he used!)

We celebrated America’s birthday at a local town celebration and loved every minute of it (especially our 10pm football game as we waited for the parking lot to clear—highly recommend!)  🇺🇸 🎆

Ellie loved being up past her bedtime most of all 😂

And we loved getting to make sweet memories with them.

Just soaking up this season of tiny pigtails, off-key Star Spangled Banner singalongs, sweaty hugs and the wonder in their eyes when the whole sky lights up 🥹

We’ve had so much to celebrate this week… new life, sweet milestones and, of course, the return of our beloved yogurt.

But I think what we’re seeing more and more is that it’s the little things that are the big things.

If you’ve had even one moment worth smiling about this week (big or small), we hope you’ll take a second to soak it in.

Thanks for letting us share ours with you 💛
