We shot a wedding on Fatherβs Day this year!
So (in true Jordan fashion) he spent his day serving everyone else.
It really couldn’t be more fitting.
Because that’s exactly who he is.
He’s the guy who happily makes his entire family breakfast on Father’s Day, hauls ALL the bags to the wedding (the greatest pack mule there ever was) and makes it seem like no big deal when it starts raining right in the middle of family portraits (that definitely happened) π
He’s been my favorite human for over 20 years, and the only thing better is watching him become THEIR favorite human π₯Ή

But this week’s wedding?
It was one of those special ones we’ll never forget.
I was crying before the bride even had her dress on… and that pattern continued throughout the entire day.
From handwritten letters to *every* guest (yes, for real, every guest!) to the most thoughtful tributes to their families, Anna and Camβs entire day was seriously brimming with intentionality and joy.
They love each other (and the people around them) like Jesus β and getting to document that kind of love and be a part of their incredible family for the day was such an honor.
It really was the most BEAUTIFUL day in every way π

On the behind-the-scenes gear side (for our fellow photo nerds who love to geek out on this stuff as much as we do):
I assumed Iβd be shooting most of the day with my go-to 50mm 1.2(my favorite prime lens of all time) but this timeline was moving so fast and included a lot of moving parts.
The R28-70mm 2.0 ended up being my real MVP.
Wait. Amy Demos, loving a telephoto lens?!

Tight spaces, unpredictable rain, making so many game-time shifts and limited indoor space β that lens showed up like a champ and really proved why it’s worth the (very hefty) price tag.
I shot the majority of the day with it (getting ready, first look, the entire ceremony, group portraits and the entire reception) and LOVED the result!
Nerdy gear facts aside, this wedding really hit different.
(And it wasn’t just the Tennessee humidity π )
Maybe itβs because our oldest is seven now and weβre really starting to understand what seasoned parents mean when they say βit goes so fast.”
Maybe itβs because when I watched the bride’s dad hug her with tears in his eyes, I imagined Jordan doing the same one day π
Or maybe itβs because we’re not the same age as our couples anymore (ha!) and we find ourselves relating to the parents more and more.
It just reminded us β as we played the monster game at the park and read bedtime stories this week β how quickly these days will become those days.
Speaking of fleeting moments…
Our five year old, Emily, is fully in her Cinderella-era right now and I’m soaking it all in while we have it.
This week, I got to take her on a special mama/daughter date and my heart melted as she skipped to my closet to pick out my dress (a matching blue one “so that we can both be Cinderella!”) and started singing πΆ In My Own Little Corner πΆΒ as I put her hair in a “Cinderella bun.”
A quick win for any mamas of girls who hate getting their hair brushed: this $8 detangler brush from Amazon changed our life. Em asks for it now. Total game-changer.
Weβve been doing one-on-one βkid datesβ once a quarter this year (a goal we set back at the start of the new year) and this one mightβve taken the… crown (pun absolutely intended).
I got us tickets to a sweet youth cast performance of Cinderella, and Em (who knows every word and has the Broadway soundtrack memorized) was shook to see it live.
My favorite part? Watching her watch the show with so much wonder.
One day, she’s five and asking to wear matching dresses…
The next, SHE will be the one walking down the aisle π
So I’m doing the best I can in this season to be as present as possible.
As one of our favorite leaders, Craig Groeschel says, I want to keep my head and heart planted where my feet are.
Keeping our heads and hearts planted where our feet are is easier said than done, but it’s something we remind ourselves of often, and maybe you need the reminder this week as much as we do.

The ordinary days are the legacy.
Theyβre the ones weβll want to rewind someday.
