I let him steal my highlighter. Rookie mistake.
Every morning, Becks wakes up well before the sun, so after we play together for a while, we take advantage of this glorious new independent-play stage he’s in. We read our books while he flips through his, plays with his toys, and takes every article of clothing out of the hamper. We realize if we don’t intentionally schedule time to read, it just won’t happen, so we really look forward to our reading window each morning.
We’re reading “Parenting: 14 Gospel Principles That Can Radically Change Your Family” by Paul David Tripp right now and it’s SO GOOD that we each bought a copy and have been highlighting all over it.
Well, Becks recently became infatuated with our highlighters and that’s made our grownup reading time a bit more challenging! We had the GENIUS idea of LETTING HIM PLAY WITH THEM to buy us more reading time, thinking, “there’s *no way* he can get the tight cap off these.”
I’m sure you know where this story is going…
We looked up to find pink highlighter all over our box spring, sheets, duvet cover, our baby’s forehead and somehow behind his ear. So I guess what I’m saying is… we should KEEP READING parenting books. We clearly have a lot to learn! But we’re also so thankful for every moment we get with this little nugget who makes every day an adventure.
