This weekend, we kicked off our fall wedding season with a private estate wedding for a sweet couple we just adore! You may remember Meghan and Zach from their beautiful desert engagement session, where Meghan wore her mom’s wedding dress that had never been professionally photographed. We could tell right away that Meghan was invested in ensuring that every detail of their wedding was meaningful and special, and we had a feeling it was going to be an extra special celebration of love. Boy, were we right!
Meghan and Zach’s day was a perfect reflection of two people becoming one. Every part of the day was so personal. They celebrated on the grounds of a family property. Zach hand-crafted the dance floor and the wooden archways over the tables at the reception. Meghan planned every detail herself (you’ll think Joana Gaines planned this rustic farmhouse wedding when you see the gorgeous greenery and touches of copper details!) Family and friends all worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make it a day to remember. But the moment that really had our hearts swell was when Meghan and Zach made the decision to wash each others’ feet during their ceremony. For their first act as a newly married couple, they chose to honor each other by demonstrating the same selfless love that Jesus demonstrated for all of us. By washing each others’ feet, they were symbolizing the devotion and humility they want to bring into their marriage from the start. What an amazing way to honor God and each other. From the start of the day to the very end, there was an undeniable feeling of joy all around us.
