Meghan sent us an email about something she’d been secretly thinking about for a while. An engagement session with an extra special meaning. A way to celebrate finding the love of her life, while honoring the legacy of love in her family.
You see, thirty years ago, Meghan’s parents stood at the base of Camelback Mountain and exchanged vows that Meghan has been blessed enough to witness them live out for her entire life. Vows to support and honor each other, to be there for one another through life’s most challenging moments, to put each other first and love each other unconditionally. Meghan’s mom wore a delicate white lace dress on their wedding day and kept it all these years.
So when Meghan emailed us about surprising her mom by WEARING HER MOM’S WEDDING DRESS to her desert engagement session, we couldn’t respond with an emphatic “YES! Let’s do it!!” fast enough.
There’s nothing more special for us than getting to capture photos that are not only meaningful to our couple, but to their families as well. And as soon as Meghan got out of the car in her mom’s delicate lace wedding dress, we knew it was going to be a special session.
It doesn’t take more than a few minutes with Meghan and Zach to see they are the perfect match. To see God’s hand all over their relationship. After hearing the story of how Meghan and Zach met (in a way only He could orchestrate) at a time when they both least expected it, and witnessing first hand the way these two genuinely light up around each other, it felt like nothing but a privilege to get to be the ones to capture their love. We spent the entire session laughing with them like we’d known them for years, and with every click of the shutter, we just felt more and more lucky to be the ones who get to photograph their wedding day, and capture the beginning of their next chapter. The perfect continuation of a beautiful legacy of love.
