We both grew up in Arizona, so we feel like desert natives. In actuality, Amy moved from California when she was eight and Jordan moved from Texas when he was five. So, even though we’re not technically natives (few people are around here!), we’re definitely proud Arizonans. Zonies for short. Phoenicians for those who live in the Valley of the Sun, like us! Growing up in the desert, though, we didn’t always appreciate its beauty like we do now. To us, it was dirt. Brown dirt. Growing up, we realized we didn’t have open fields of green grass or tall oak trees like they sing about in the country songs. No red brick buildings lined with white picket fences and cute painted shutters. But the more we’ve traveled and the older we’ve gotten, the more we just love the desert. It’s unique. It’s one-of-a-kind. It’s home.
So, when Sabrina and David told us they wanted to showcase the southwest in their engagement session for their out-of-town guests, we. were. all. about. it. Especially since we were on the road the entire month of June! It was refreshing to shoot in our backyard again! Like, actually our backyard. Just minutes from our home. While we were waiting for the light to drop into sunset, we went to a park with a desert vibe, and when we look at the blend of cacti, the pink walls, and the adorableness of these two together, we can’t. get. enough. Sabrina & David are so natural together. So perfect together. Once the sun dropped, we headed to the mountain range behind our house. Behind. Our. House! Sometimes we just forget that there are 30,000 acres of preserve and 100 miles of hiking trails just a five-minute drive form our front door! Sabrina and David threw on their jeans and boots — David’s are sharkskin. Jordan added those to his birthday list! — and we waded amongst the saguaros (the catcti with arms) and the jumping cholla (the ones that jump at you, seriously, ask our friend Katelyn James!), for some epic scenic shots that we’re drooling over as we write this!
Sabrina and David, where do we even begin? From the moment we met with you for coffee that spring night, we’ve been counting down the days to spend time with you again in a place we both love: Arizona. You both looked absolutely stunning together in every frame and that made it almost impossible to narrow down our favorites for this post. Your wedding next March at the Omni Montelucia with the amazing Whitney Lewis of Some Like It Classic seems so far away, but we know it’ll go fast and be here before we know it — and we can’t wait! You two are so sweet together and we hope you love your photos as much as we do. We love them a lot! Big hugs and lots of love from two fellow desert dwellers!
