Happy Thursday, friends!
We wrapped up our third AJ Workshop earlier this week and, to be quite honest, our bodies feel exhausted. Like I-just-got-run-over-by-a-trian exhausted. Or, for an analogy more suitable for photographers, I-just-got-run-over-by-an-elephant-wearing-a-flower-crown exhausted. Side note: If we got to have Jose Villa take OUR pictures, THAT would be a price worth paying! We’d be that elephant’s personal door mat, because if it smashed our faces, Jose could make it look GOOD! Seriously, though, we think that our small group at church is really worried about us, because we went last night and were popping Ricolas during our group discussion like they were Blue Bell ice cream M&M’s. Second side note: If those even existed, wouldn’t THAT be a world worth living in! Dream the dream, right? The truth is: yes, our bodies are exhausted, but we’re not tired. We’re fired up. Because, like a drug, we’re hooked, addicted to the high that comes from seeing lives change in less than two days. And even though we could tell you all about that, we thought it’d be more fun for you to hear it from them less than two days after their two-day experience with us. So, without further adieu, here’s the third graduating class of the AJ Workshop.
From left to right: Kimberly, Letty, Lindsey, Shay, Ashley, Carrie, Peter, Jody, Rachel, Stacey, Lori, Laura, Amber, Leslie, Brie (our assistant!), and Bethaney.
I can’t even. I woke up this morning halfway wondering if the past two full days were a dream. My world was rocked; my heart is overflowing; and my mind was blown. My drive back home is going to be a good one, as I try to process all the amazing that just happened. Amy and Jordan are simply amazing, and that’s not even close to explaining how influential they are! I’m so thankful I was able to attend the AJ Workshop and meet some lovely ladies while I was there! And of course… get my #DemosSandwich!
Lindsey | Las Cruces, New Mexico
Two full days of being poured into and loved on by wedding industry leaders has been life changing. I have a blossoming focus now that I can’t wait to see come into full bloom. The drive home from the workshop resulted in the best business-related conversation my husband and I have had yet. This workshop was a blessing. It was necessary. It was a lifeline to a drowning creative. I can’t wait to get back to work! Thank you both so, so much!
Amber | Tucson, Arizona
I woke up today with butterflies in my stomach for the first time about what I’m about to embark on professionally and personally. I attended to the most amazing and empowering workshop yesterday with Amy and Jordan. I feel like im falling in love with my business all over again. I feel like I’m a born-again photographer! This experience was a valuable reminder of what I love about photography, to never give up, and that it’s not just about taking a beautiful photo. It’s much, much more. Thank you again, Amy and Jordan, for the magical and loving experience.
Ashley | Phoenix, Arizona
Before the AJ workshop, I had been in a rut, both in my business and personal life. Although I’ve booked weddings through the rut, I felt like there were a lot of items I was missing, and more importantly, that my clients were missing from me. I signed up for the AJ workshop, not really knowing what to expect. I felt like I was doing things “okay” in my business, but like I said, I also knew I was missing something for my clients. I just wasn’t sure what that was. I just finished with the AJ Workshop. I laughed, I cried, and I had numerous “ah-ha” moments. My “ah-ha” moments weren’t things that I was missing, but more the things I was rutted in. These ruts were my pitfalls: my client experience from start to finish.
Less than 24 hours after the AJ Workshop, I met with a potential client for a destination wedding (my first ever!). In the past, I’ve driven all over town to meet with potential clients, only to not get booked. This time, I sold exactly how Amy and Jordan sell: without selling, but by becoming genuinely interested in other people and doing my best to serve them. When the client arrived, I was finally more confident. I can’t count how many clients I’ve met with, and when they’ve walked in through the doors, I’m immediately nervous. We greeted, we sat down, and it began. When I explained the details and the importance of what I do and why I do it, the client responded she got chills. At that point, it was no longer an interview. It was a relationship. Before, I had always felt like I was interviewing for a job with every single client.
Because of the AJ Workshop, that changed! I had now gotten the client to envision me as a part of their wedding day, and they couldn’t imagine anyone else being there to do that. They booked a full wedding package with me, a total investment of $5,000 I had thought of “working a deal” just to book my first destination client, but after the AJ Workshop, and through the meeting, I let everything speak for itself – and it totally paid off!
So, in less than 24 hours, my investment in the AJ workshop paid for itself almost five times over. Thank you, Amy and Jordan!
Bethaney | Phoenix, Arizona
We kicked off the workshop with our Sunday night welcome event, where Jordan got yelled at (in front of the whole restaurant) by an man eating a club sandwich for sitting so close to his family’s table. We think it had less to do with that and more to do with the fact that he ORDERED A CLUB SANDWICH in an ICE CREAM PARLOR! It’s like getting a cheeseburger at a Mexican restaurant. You’re just ASKING for trouble, sir!
Can you spot the SUPER creepy photo bomber?
Coffee, coffee, coffee! Our eating and (non-alcoholic) drinking habits (we’re sheepish to admit!) during the workshop are pretty baaad! Just like our jokes. Cue cymbal-hitting drummer guy!
You guys, you catch a football like THIS!
And THAT’S how you score touchdowns!
So you’re saying I’m the only one who’s EVER checked Instagram in the bathroom?! You’re ALL liars!
How could Amy be SO in love with such a creepy face?
Time for the styled shoot! And disco moves!
Introducing the newest member of our family! He’s got his own hashtag and everything. #juliothestoolio
Wait? Where’d Julio go?
We can’t WAIT to show you how this styled shoot turned out, friends! These two lovebirds are MAGNETIC together!
Like I said, if you just burn a quesadilla badly enough ONE time, you’ll never have to cook again. Remember, this workshop is more than just photography and business, it’s about LIFE change.
If you’re a madly in love married couple who wants to subject themselves to this for a few hours on a Monday afternoon, please send a photo of you and your hunny bunny to info at amyandjordan.com We don’t type it out correctly because then we get spam emails for DAYS. Spam would be fine. It’s just the email part that gets us.
Can you spot Julio?! And Amy’s ExpoDisc pretending to be tobacco can.
Taking over the place!
It was fun showing everyone exactly how we find great light no matter where we are! Because, it’s all about the light.. and that bass… that bass… that bass.
Day 2 is all about building a brand and business to last!
Oh! You in the corner! So you think you’re better than everyone because you don’t check Instagram in the bathroom?!
But you in the front do?! Thanks for being so honest with everyone.
This is either Amy crying (for the third workshop in a row) when she started talking about our brides… or when we confronted her about checking Instagram in the bathroom, too.
Head shots!
Our styled shoot models AND only husband and wife team at this workshop! WHO JUST HAD A BABY FOUR MONTHS AGO! Whaaat?! As Jordan said, “I’ll have a baby if I can look like Carrie four months later!”
Our first mother-daughter team ever! Rachel is only in high school. HIGH SCHOOL. How sweet is that?!
You can’t see Julio in this picture. But he’s there. Either that, or Amy’s levitating.
Official Workshop Policy: NO ONE leaves without a #DemosSandwich.
The third graduating class! We love you ALL so much!
Ready to take the next step? We’re coming to Richmond on June 8 & 9 and there are just a few seats left! Here’s more information!
