Happy Friday, friends!
We’re so excited to see that one of our weddings was chosen by the editors of The Knot as the wedding to represent Arizona in The Knot Special Showcase: 50 Weddings, 50 States, a blog series promoting their new partnership with Two Bright Lights, the fabulous submission tool that we use to streamline publication of our weddings. Before we started using TBL, submitting for publication was like pulling teeth, because every wedding blog had different rules, regulations, standards, expectations, idiosyncrasies, and processes, like America’s Articles of Confederation. It was a mess. There was no uniform system in place.
We’d spend hours writing our portion of the submission, corresponding with our bride for hers, typing and linking vendor credits, and carefully selecting the perfect 100 images to catch an editor’s eye. Then, off it went. Into cyberspace. And we’d wait. Sometimes just a few hours. Sometimes months. When our submissions were accepted right away, we breathed sighs of relief, but when they weren’t, we wanted to cry, not because we’d been rejected (we’re creatives and small business owners, we can handle that, it’s part of life), but because it meant we had to restart the entire process again with a significant time investment and no guaranteed return. It was worse than in Candyland when you get one colored step away from The Candy Castle only to be stuck in The Molasses Swamp with Gloppy. It was like making it to the end of Chutes and Ladders, landing on the wrong space, and sliding back down the chute eight spaces from where you were — or more. Not fun. As a kid or an adult.
That’s where TBL comes in. It was a game-changer for our business because it created a bridge over Gloppy’s Molasses Swamp. It’s the central hub for the overwhelming majority of wedding inspiration blogs. It’s like a combination of a train system’s central station and a bank’s air tube thing. That’s right, we called it an “air tube thing.” You know what we mean. You create one publication in the TBL system (central station) and shoot it to your first publication of choice (the air tube thing). If the publication doesn’t think your submission is a good fit, they act like the banker and send the tube back with your submission still intact. Then, back at TBL (central station), all of you have to do is click a button to select a new potential publication and resubmit it (again, the tube thing). It’s that simple and a no-brainer for any photographer looking for the fastest, easiest, most streamlined approach to submitting their work on a regular basis and getting published more.
If you’ve never tried Two Bright Lights before, now’s your chance! Go to their website and sign up for a FREE one month premium membership. Use the promo code amyandjordan and TBL will add a second FREE month to your membership to celebrate their new partnership with The Knot. Yippee! It really is a happy Friday!
