Today is Marissa and Jake’s first wedding anniversary! To celebrate and relive the magic, we’re sharing our favorite photo from their wedding day and why we love it so much, and we asked Marissa and Jake to share theirs, too!

We love the playfulness and raw happiness in this photo. We still remember this moment on the wedding day like it was yesterday. The shutter clicked, we looked at the back of the camera and whispered to each other, “That’s the shot!”

I love how my parents are interacting with one another and the way they are looking at Jake and me. They seem so proud and content with the scene in front of them. The picture is a perfect capture of one generation of a happy, married couple looking upon the next generation with love and adoration. I also love the makeup of the photo itself. The fact that Jake and I are in the forefront, but out of focus shows that my parents are the subject of the photo, but Jake and I are the subject on my parents’ minds. It’s a photo that doesn’t need any explaining — everyone looks at it and gets it instantly. There are tons of pictures from that day that we both love, but this one captured a moment that not everyone is so fortunate to have. I am incredibly lucky, and I can’t thank you enough for reminding me!
