Heather called us from Wisconsin in her cute midwestern accent. We’d never met before. We didn’t know each other. But it didn’t feel like that. It felt like we’d been friends all along. She told us that she and Eddie, high school sweethearts (just like us), were planning an intimate elopement at The Sanctuary on Camelback here in Arizona and needed photographers who didn’t mind doubling as marriage-license-signing witnesses. We told her we’d be honored. That was months ago. When the weather in the Badger State was still frigid. Fast forward now. To June. To the Sonoran Desert. To 100 degrees warmer. The cactus and mountain setting for their elopement wasn’t quite the snow and forest scenery from their Christmastime proposal. But it was just as cool.
We met Heather and Eddie just moments before their ceremony began. She was as sweet in person as she was in the phone — but her accent was even cuter. He was quiet like she told us he would be. Kind and strong, too. Amy helped the beautiful bride into her dress. Jordan prepped the groom. And we both photographed her (and him) as she strode across the resort lawn into his arms. After an emotional embrace, the pastor began and did a beautiful job capturing their love with his words. We headed to Arizona’s famous Camelback Mountain a few moments later and the rest, as they say, is history…
Heather and Eddie, thank you so much for welcoming us into a brief but lasting moment in your life together. Even though we were strangers when we met, we picked up like old friends, and felt so honored to press our pens to your paperwork to make your marriage official and our fingers to the buttons that captured these memories, too. Here are some highlights of our time together…
