We sat together in the small conference room. In silence.
We were less than ten minutes from doing our first live webcast into cyberspace, and there was nothing in the room but us, a long wooden table, and our computer screen.
Sleep-deprived from a whirlwind weekend and running on nothing but coffee and fumes, we were just moments away from clicking the biggest, scariest button we’d ever seen.
Did you even know buttons could be scary?
It was bright.
It was green.
And it said, “Broadcast Live.”
We’d never been “live” on anything before, so nervous doesn’t even begin to describe it.
We can’t even imagine how astronauts must feel before lift off.
As we sat there staring into a black hole, we started questioning everything ourselves.
We started with vain questions…
Will anyone even be watching?
Will they like us? Will they hate us?
What if we make a mistake?
And moved into more ridiculous questions…
Are we dressed okay?
Do our heads look big on this screen?
Can you hear our hearts bursting out of our chests?
The clocked ticked down to under two minutes, and the nerves were still there.
We sat sipping water, trying to no avail to quench our thirst.
But the nerves were still there.
We reviewed our notes and checked our hair.
Yet the nerves were still there.
Until, finally, Amy’s shaking, sweaty hand reached under the table and grabbed Jordan’s. She leaned her head on his shoulder and said, “If we can help one person, it’ll be worth it, no matter what anyone else thinks. Just one person.”
Just one person.
So, sitting together in that conference room, looking at our own reflections on the computer screen, watching the timer trickle down to zero, we closed our eyes and we prayed.
We prayed that God would let us help someone.
Inspire someone.
Encourage someone.
So, we prayed for someone.
We prayed for you.
And YOU responded.
This morning, we woke up to a blizzard of the best messages and emails we’ve ever received.
You tuned in.
You’re motivated again.
You’re encouraged again.
You’re inspired again.
You remember why you love what you do, and you’re ready to make your dreams come true.
And, now, because of friends like you, that small little conference room doesn’t seem so silent anymore…
