We’re so excited to share this beautiful Flagstaff Forest Maternity Session with you today! We got to shoot in a brand new location, which is always so creatively stimulating for us, and more importantly, we got to shoot for someone really special: an AJ Student! Back in 2015, Karlee was waiting tables when she invested in education with us… and you have to read the rest of her story in her own words!
“Before I found Amy and Jordan’s education, I was waiting tables. While I was so thankful for that job, it was far from my dream. I was shooting small weddings for next to nothing on the side to get my foot in the door of photography, but was absolutely stuck. I used to see what other photographers were doing on social media (comparison is the thief of joy, by the way), and felt hopeless. I didn’t even know where to start, and quickly realized having a photography business was just that… a business. I knew nothing about business, especially in photography. I didn’t know how to attract ideal clients, price my work, or shoot without having to edit for hours. After many, MANY, tears and doubts, I knew SOMETHING had to change. So my husband and I decided it was finally time to invest in education through Amy & Jordan, and that’s when the change happened! I still pinch myself. What I learned was more valuable for me going full-time than anything else I’d ever invested in. My only regret was not doing it sooner, and I have to refrain from thinking about the months I wasted sitting stagnant.
I left my serving job on October 1st, 2015 and still pinch myself when I’m reminded that I’ve been doing photography full time for five years now! Anytime anybody asks me, “How did you make the leap to full time? What did you do that changed the game for you?” every single time, my answer is simple. Amy and Jordan. There will never be words to convey how thankful I am to have learned their approach to photography and business. It’s quite literally changed my life!”
We are so, so proud of Karlee. It gives us chills when we look at these photos of her with her husband, Jerrin, her almost three-year-old daughter, Quinn, and the sweet baby in her belly, knowing how drastically different life is for all four of them because she invested in herself, applied what she learned and put in the hard work to turn her dream of full-time photography into a reality. She’s helped us with weddings when we were pregnant and she’s such a gem. It was such an honor to get to take these pictures for her.
As you may have already seen on Instagram, this session brought an unexpected challenge for us because our babysitter got food poisoning, and nobody else could help us last minute, so we all decided to roll with it and bring both our kids to the session. It was the first time we’ve ever brought either one of our kids to a session, and it was definitely a sight to behold! We were navigating three kids under three in the forest and to say the least, it. was. an. adventure. Jordan was wearing Emily, slinging his camera, and also leading the Daniel Tiger marching parade. We love looking at how peaceful, serene and joyful Karlee and Jerrin look, especially knowing all the chaos that was going on right behind the lens. They were so cool and go-with-the-flow and we’d never been more thankful to be working with sweet, joyful clients who understand toddler life! We loved our time with these guys so much and are so excited to share the final product with you! For kicks, just imagine the Daniel Tiger theme song playing in the background as you scroll 🙂
